Based on a true story, Vendetta tells the shocking and tragic story of a group of Sicilian immigrants working on the New Orleans docks in the 1890's. After the Chief of Police was brutally murdered, much of the city's Sicilian population was rounded up and brought in for questioning. Eventually, thirteen were formally tried for murder and nine went to trial, and while they were acquitted, a series of brutal lynchings showed they had as much to fear from the city's general populace as they did from the corrupt police force. The cast includes Christopher Walken and Bruce Davison (who previously starred in a very different look at New Orleans' past, French Quarter). ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I liked the movie, the actors catch you up in the story, and at the end you're left wondering how much we're all, even now, manipulated by the rich and powerful.

i had just finished watching The Italian Job the day before, what a difference! on the Italian job we had a feel good heist movie where all the bad guys either die or get busted while the heroes come away as, well, heroes, living happily thereafter. on vendetta we have a film where almost all the "heroes" get killed, and all the bad guys not only all live but none gets arrested and live happily thereafter. this was supposed to be a"real life story" in new orleans where they had the biggest lynching in u.s. history, since it looks that there was only one survivor who was the one telling the story is hard to believe the writers had any real information at all to be able to come up with a movie script with real facts of what really happened. It might have been totally possible that the jury was really "bought" to come with a not guilty verdict and the accused were really guilty. at any rate this movie just leaves you with a very sour taste and a lot of questions.
