Two emotionally damaged people are thrown together under unfortunate circumstances in this offbeat dramatic feature. After spending 14 years in a mental hospital, Jean (Sergei Shrinev), escapes and hides out in an abandoned motel. Jean, who never speaks, finds his solitude is soon shattered by the arrival of Cory (Martie Sanders), a nurse with emotional problems who was abandoned in the middle of nowhere by a doctor who once employed her. Cory soon imposes herself on Jean, who will not voice his objections, and she goes on a binge of alcohol and drugs. She eventually passes out, but, convinced she has died, Jean buries her in back of the motel along with the remainder of her cache of pills. Filmed in Iowa, The Unspoken features a supporting performance from Harry J. Lennix, best known for his work on the series ER.
