Il Mio West (1998)
Member Rating:
Popular Italian comedian Leonardo Pieraccioni shfts gears to take on the traditions of the American Western in this family-focused drama. In Il Mio West, Pieraccioni plays Doc, a physician in a small town in the American West. Doc is a peaceful man opposed to hunting, ecological waste and eating meat; he heals the community's ills and lends a voice of reason when personal differences threaten to become violent. The community's peace is shattered when Doc's father, Johnny Lowen (Harvey Keitel) comes home, 20 years after he abandoned his family. As one might expect, Doc has issues with his father, and it doesn't help that Dad was a famous gunslinger whose presence attracts Jack Sikora (David Bowie), an vicious outlaw who has sworn to kill Johnny. Il Mio West was filmmed on location in the Tuscan mountains; in the original Italian language version, Keitel's voice was dubbed by Giancarlo Giannini. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

I picked up Gunslinger's Revenge ( II Mio West ) at the BB store with a free rental coupon. I wonder if I can get a refund. That's how bad this was. It had the feel of one of those low budget Hallmark movies but David Bowie's psycho and violent character would probably have to be cut. This is an Italian movie with mostly Italians even playing the Indians. The little kid who mostly narrates the movie was hard to understand. You would think than when they dubbed his part into English they would have used someone who spoke English? Alessia Marcuzzi has a brief nude scene in the beginning of the picture but even that could not save this film from the scrape heap. At least the bartender, the weird guy and the mother of the young child stood up to bad guys. Can't say the same for Harvey Keitel or his seemly cowardly son.

this is a horrible movie. harvey keitel must have owed someone big time to do this. It makes eastwood's first spaghetti western look like an oscar winner. Bowie was absolutely horrible.
