This is a simple yet beautiful movie from the photographer turned director, santosh sivan. It follows the life of a young woman in srilanka who decides to be a suicide bomber and during her training period comes to know about a truth which puts her in a dilemma on whether to carry out the mission or not. The movie was shot on a shoestring budget in scenic locations of kerala, tamilnadu and srilanka and the photography, background music in the film are top notch. Roger ebert has listed this movie in his "Great movies" category.

I liked this movie because of the beautiful cinematography, good acting, superb direction( the best feature) sparse dialogue(unlike most hollywood and bollywood movies where actors spout nonsense nonstop)and a moving theme. It tells us about the value of life and how it is more precious than anything else. On the negative side, like in most movies with subtitles, the transaltion to english needs to be better done. A few times, the characters are saying something that is not being translated and the viewer feels cheated . All in all, worth watching.

A director has to choose between action and exceitement, or else to slowly develop the complexity of the characters involved. The Terrorist opts for a slow, complex exposition of the characters as they struggle between the nihilism of death and the affirmation of life. I felt the movie was well worth watching.
