The Forest (1983)

The Forest (1983)
Member Rating:
This amateurish backwoods horror opus finds a quartet of annoying California campers embarking on an idyllic mountain getaway, only to be terrorized by a cave-dwelling cannibal cracker (Michael Brody) who, it turns out, is himself plagued by the ghosts of his murdered wife and children (as revealed in flashback). Undoubtedly disgusted by Daddy's unpleasant eating habits, the ghosts conspire to end the killer redneck's reign of terror before he murders again. Viewers will probably find themselves wishing the same upon the filmmakers. A lifeless hodgepodge of Deliverance, The Hills Have Eyes and Friday the 13th, this cheap direct-to-video project waffles between horror and black comedy, failing completely on both counts. ~ Cavett Binion, Rovi

I'll make this short. This is not a slasher flick but it does have cannibals, ghosts, horrible music & cheezy dialouge. it's more humourous(not intentional) than horror. If you do rent check out the appearance of Corky Pigeon (Freddie from Silver Spoons).

Wow, is this bad!!!! I think this is the one reason that the 80's sucked so bad, yep, this movie! Disco clothes and hair, bad acting, horrible lines and about an hour of wasted time watching people hike. If you're dumb enough to watch this, take a look at the special features. They have interviews with some of the surviving members of the cast at their trailer park. What a hoot!

I'm a huge fan of slasher flicks including those from the 80s. This looked like it was from the 70's, horrible music, acting, etc. I liked the plot - 2 young couples in the woods being stalked by maniac, but the ghosts, killer, horrible acting and kill scenes made this pretty lame.
