If your are a fan of post-apocalyptic fiction you MUST see this film. Every apocalyptic film is focused on individuals struggling against the end of humanity. This film focuses on the greater other. Those who have accepted their death and are looking for a graceful way to die. The film provides the perfect counterpoint to end of world fiction that is not captured by such films as, "My Name is Legend" or "When Worlds Collide".

What a wonderful little movie. The relationships, characters, and little touches add up to a really fun film. Of course, it's a bit dark since it is about the end of the world, but in a world filled with vapid popcorn movies, if you want a thoughtful little film to watch, this is a good choice. Don McKellar wrote, directed and starred, and did a nice job of all three. Sandra Oh was as good as she's ever been, and that's saying a lot. Sarah Polley is always watchable, and even though she's not seen much, she's still very good. I don't know some of the other actors' names, but nice jobs all around. And as an old guy, it was great to see Genvieve Bujold is still around. It's a shame filmmakers don't often see any value in casting actresses of her, and my, generation. Thhis is the kind of film you see, then wonder why you've never heard of it until now. I should compile a list of them all and they should be required watching for film students. Nice job.

My first thought after seeing this movie was what a peaceful and calm end of the world it was. Then I watched it again. Apparently all of the violence has spent itself out long before this story takes place and what we get are wonderful character studies of people who have accepted their fate and know - or think they do - how they want to spend their last moments. Callum Keith Rennie is great as the man who - well, watch it and see for yourself. He's is so wonderfully hilarious in the most understated way as he so insincerely sweet talks his women. Sandra Oh is great, too. No matter what happens around her, she just plows on as if life has always been like this. Good movie.
