This was was probably one of Kirstie Alley's better performances. I really liked how the mother (Kirstie) comes to terms with the fact that she's been preventing her son from actually growing and developing when all along she's been telling herself that she's sacrificed for his benefit. She was a good mother, she just got off track somewhere. It really was a very good movie about letting go and letting our children, even our special children grow on their own. I recommend it.

I really did enjoy this movie. Kirstie Alley is wonderful in this role. She loves her son, who is a child with autism. He is severly affected, so it may be hard to watch for some mother's with special needs children who are higher functioning; however, I learned from it. It is a great love story of a mother and her son. Together they live life, and the plot involves her sister helping, a new love interest after the marriage failure she endures. I see why she earned a nomination for her role. Well done Kirstie! It also involves children's welfare, and placement and the struggle that entails.
