Member Rating:
Actor Jacques Weber made his directorial debut with this film adaptation of Don Juan written in 1665 by Moliere (1622-1673). In early 17th-century Spain, two women (Penelope Cruz, Ariadne Gil) believe Don Juan (Weber) when he promises marriage to both, but they soon are left to ponder his whereabouts. However, the brothers of Elvire (Emmanuelle Beart), also abandoned by Don Juan, are out for revenge. Musical interludes (a cappella chorales, guitar) are by Bruno Coulais. This Don Juan is an OLD, FAT AND UGLY MAN. I could not belive my eyes when the movie started that the OLD AND FAT GUY was actualy playing Don Juan role. The director should write and play in fantasy movies. I guess this is his version of "Alice in Wonder Land" . Here you have the FAT OLD GUY who's chase by young and very pretty women, madly in love with him. He's got a great imaginations. Do not rent this movie. It's a JOKE !

I have rented hundreds of films from blockbuster and many of them where foreign films. So far this is the only one I have ever rated a zero. It's simply horrible!

I didn't understand why such an old man was playing Don Juan, until I realized the director had cast himself in the role. Thankfully, we never had to watch him have sex with the young actresses mooning all over him.
