To Stigma (1982)

To Stigma (1982)
In a shocking storyline, director and writer Pavlos Tassios has a married couple in a dilemma because the wife has given birth to a mentally impaired baby who will never be able to live a normal life and who would certainly be a burden on the parents. The father and his mother and a friend force the mother into agreeing to let the baby starve to death -- they will give him water and nothing else. After 20 days of crying in desolation, the baby dies and a doctor signs the death certificate -- the parents are "relieved" of their burden. The relationships between the couple, the mother-in-law and the friend, however, are far from unscathed by this one heinous act; these people have changed their own lives forever. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi
