This is a terrific movie! It is set in Russia after the revolution of 1917, yet it's very much like a classic American western. The Czarist counter-revolutionaries (the Whites) play the bandits and indians while the Cossacks (the Reds) play the cavalry. There's a train robbery complete with the obligatory train-going-over-the-wrecked-bridge scene and a lot of good shoot 'em up stuff that includes belt fed automatic weapons! And to top it off, they must have used real cossack cavalry to play the cossack cavalry because the riders trot around in formations that look like they were drawn with a ruler. No way a bunch of weenie actors could have done that! If you like a good western (think Butch and Sundance) you'll like this movie!
