If you are a Jane Austen fan, see this adaptation of "Emma" not the Paltrow one. The other version is too modern and sexy for an Austen period piece. Although Mr. Knightly is far more dashing in that version and it is a great movie, just not very true to the period. Although not as big budget as the other version that came out around the same time, this Emma is wonderful. Emma is conceited as she should be until the very end, but not in an annoying way as G.P. was in her "Emma". Costuming is great. The acting of Emma's father is superb. True to the story. You'll love it.

Although this is not as flashy as the Gwyneth Paltrow version, it portrays Emma and Jane Austen's world more accurately. More serious and less 'fluffy'. Mark Strong offers up a more commanding and passionate Mr Knightley here. Who can mistake the fire in those eyes? Definitely a keeper worth watching over and over.

Kate Beckinsale was great as Emma. While this is not nearly as good as the movie adaptations of Pride and Prejudice, the costumes and settings were very believable.
