Beyond the Door (1974)

Beyond the Door (1974)
Member Rating:
This hysterical horror film was the most successful of numerous Italian possession films produced in the wake of The Exorcist. Lead Juliet Mills (Nanny and the Professor) was married to co-screenwriter Roberto d'Ettore Piazzoli at the time, which might explain her willingness to curse in a guttural voice, spin her head, and throw up in this crude and sexist film. Mills plays the cheating wife of San Francisco record producer Gabriele Lavia (Profondo Rosso) and gets pregnant after a fling with Richard Johnson. What Mills doesn't know is that Johnson is a Satanist, and she is bearing the Antichrist. Child star David Colin, Jr. returned in the otherwise unrelated Beyond the Door II, while director Ovidio Assonitis went on to rip off Jaws with the giant octopus-epic Tentacoli. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Not even that funny. Long, draggy and lots of talking. Bratty kid actors, no logic in the story and bad Italian horror movie dubbing. Don't waste your time.

Not as good as the Exorcist but non the less this wasn't a bad flick either. Freaky in some parts but what do you expect it's an Itallian HORROR. It was good for me.

I found this movie odd. Its weird that the synopsis says "This hysterical horror film" when other then the kids tryin to be funny there is no humor at all. A couple of somewhat scary scenes but overall not really scary. The films musical score is really dumb as most of the time it sounds like a bad 70s adult movie. The Exorcist should not even be mentioned in the same breath as this because the Exorcist really will scare you while this for the most part is kinda lame. Not to mention that the editing of the master film or the creation of this disc has bad spots where the film kinda freezes. Only if your out of horror movies to rent should you get this one.
