Ok, the synopsis sounded campy but cute, and the actual movie was initially that way, but as it bore on (Pun fully intended), the movie took a slightly darker twist with political backstabbings and moralistic views that harkened to a darker time, shortly after WWII, when Japan was an emerging business entity and still trying to prove themselves. I think that the parallels between the 3 rival candy manufacturers in the movie were patterned after the major car manufacturers in Japan; Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. It was very obvious, even though the movie was supposedly set around caramel candy. Go figure. Unless you want and like to relive those post-war sentiments and feeleings, I would avoid this movie and rent something else, but that's just my impression. Mikey
