The Escape Artist represents the laudable directorial debut of cinematographer Caleb Deschanel. Griffin O'Neal, the real-life son of Ryan O'Neal, plays Danny Masters, the offspring of a famed magician. Determined to match his dad's accomplishment, Danny runs into nothing but trouble. His biggest mistake is picking the pocket of the son of a corrupt town mayor. When not running from adults, the boy is being exploited by them. I had not heard of this movie, but I can't praise it enough. Griffen O'Neal is amazing. Interesting plot with good twists. You should definitely check it out.

When I saw this movie was PG I was put off by it, however I rented it anyway and what a wonderful surprise. Griffin O'Neal was very charming and engaging. The knife wielding Raul Julia was his usual scary self and the maibox scene was hilarious. Probably will be a little intense for small children.
