Synopsis of Een Koninkrijk Voor Een Huis

The title of this Dutch domestic comedy translates to A Kingdom for a House. The film tries to extract humor out of the postwar European housing shortage, and for the most part succeeds. A blue-collar mother and daughter, left homeless by the war, are given shelter in the home of a wealthy family. Complications ensue when the poor daughter (Ann van Duyn) falls in love with the family's carefree son (Rob de Vries).
