    Brooding, gripping in places, sometimes a little slow, this a political thriller that raises questions about nuclear power and who's running the show. It's also BBC and, hence, less formula than some current shows. I enjoyed it.

    Having watched the recent Mel Gibson US remake, I wondered whether this story would stand the test of time (it's more than 10 years old) and the cultural transplantation. The answer is YES. The original is quite compelling and features some very good performances - even though the "cowboy" image of the US CIA guys is a bit funny and a caricature. Ray Winstone was treated much more kindly in his role in the US film - and his motivations were based purely on personal rather than national reasons.

    Very good and keeps your interests. The music is from Eric Clapton. Joe Don Baker seems a little out of place but I have just finished the first disc.
