Animal Love (1996)
Member Rating:
The love between humans and their pets takes a darker turn in this Austrian documentary that is as disturbing as it is provocative. While not exactly delving into actual bestiality, filmmaker Ulrich Seidl takes viewers upsettingly close as he examines the reasons why some people are able to be more intimate with their dogs than with other people. There is something grotesque and decidedly unsympathetic about the way Seidl chooses to portray his lonely subjects and their pets. Some of the relationships are maternal, some romantic, and some almost sexual. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Please be warned. It is German w\ english subtitles but I don't mind that if the movie is good. I can't fully describe how bad the movie is though I'll give you an example one of the subjects is a homeless bum who buys a bunny to help him prey on stranger's pitty while he is begging for money. It also shows him talking about a girl he once dated then it shows him masturbating in his pants. Another subject in the movie was 2 60ish male roommates who adopted a dog together & the movie showed them trying to train the dogs to behave. It was pretty boring, weird, & pointless.

A little disappointing and long. The directors choice to hold the camera on people doing nothing were actually the funnier parts of the movie.
