Originally made in Hong Kong in 1979, Half a Loaf of Kung Fu was released in the U.S. in 1985. The inimitable Jackie Chan heads the cast of this martial-arts period piece. A valuable emerald jade is stolen when the gem's supposedly invulnerable Sern Chuan bodyguards are bushwhacked by bandits. Only Chan escapes the carnage relatively unscathed. In his usual moralistic, violence-only-when-necessary fashion, Chan sets about to make mincemeat of the bad guys. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
This was the first Jackie movie I ever saw. I watched it on a beta rental when i was in my mid teens. Its the first comedy martial arts movie I had ever seen. Whether your a Jackie fan or not if you don't mind the older dubbed martial arts movies this is a MUST see. You will laugh from beginning to end. Being a Jackie fan I am a bit biased but this is an awesome movie. I have no other movie to compare it to as it is in a class of its own. Get out the popcorn grab a comfortable seat sit back and have fun.
