An aging couple strive to conquer their sexual hang-ups and save their 30-year marriage from going stale by visiting a renowned couple's therapist in this comedy from director David Frankel (The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me). After three decades of marriage, Kay (Meryl Streep) and Arnold (Tommy Lee Jones) still love each other deeply. But somewhere along the way, their passion for one another seems to have perished. Upon learning about a relationship therapist (Steve Carell) in Great Hope Springs whose methods have yielded incredible results, Kay pleads with Arnold to sign up for a weeklong session. Little does the committed couple realize that overcoming years of sexual repression will prove to be quite an exhausting challenge. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Once again, Meryl Streep finds another fascinating character unlike any other she's portrayed before. The title and movie ad give the impression that this is a comedy. WRONG! It's really a heavy truthful drama depicting the waning years of a long time marriage. It's sad, brutal, at times, always honest, and can make us laugh when we see pieces of ourselves we've never realized before. Tommy Lee Jones is the perfect match for Streep. Two wonderfully talented actors give overlooked award winning performances. One of the best dramas I've seen all year.

At first I was so angry with T. L. Jones but as the movie progressed it became more intense and you just knew that he had gone through so many things and lost his passion for marriage. M. Streep, well this is a role that she was made for but one like I have never seen her play. She is a subservient wife! She is usually plays strong roles. I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed this movie. More real life than funny. Over 50 would enjoy and relate anyone younger not so much.
