When the population of a village in rural China must defend themselves against a formidable enemy, a local blacksmith (director/star/co-writer RZA) forges the weapons they need to emerge victorious from the bloody battle to come. Russell Crowe and Lucy Liu co-star in this period action thriller co-written by famed horror director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel). ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Given the talent on board, this registers as a disappointment, but even with the clunky dialogue and subpar fight scenes, it's watchable fun.
50% critic score and 43% user score on rottentomatoes. So I guess Michael S. is the real moron. This dude probably also gave all the Transformers movies a 5 star.
The movie was so so....I guess if you like kung fu movies you may enjoy this film. The fighting sequence were nice but the storyline was pretty lackluster. The Rza romantic storyline ruin the movie for me---Rza can't really act and the romantic scenes really show that --if they had just excluded those scenes then this would had been a decent action movie. This is simply a poor man's Kill Bill with some special effects. Russell Crowe was the one bright spot in this film. Critic score of 51 and User score of 5.9 on Metacritic so I guess Ray D. is the complete idiot.
