Yes: 9012 Live (1985)
Member Rating:
In 1985, British progressive rock legends Yes were making a major comeback following the success of their album 90125, and this concert film captured the band on-stage at the height of their powers, playing hits from that album as well as classics from their back catalog. Yes: 9012 Live features the lineup of Jon Anderson (vocals), Trevor Rabin (guitar and keyboards), Tony Kaye (keyboards), Chris Squire (bass), and Alan White (drums); songs include "Owner of a Lonely Heart," "I've Seen All Good People," "Leave It," "Changes," "Hold On," "Starship Trooper," and more. Notably, the film served as one of future indie-wunderkind Steven Soderbergh's first directorial credits. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Original Post: I saw this concert live back in '86, so I was hoping this video would take me back to that moment in time. I was somewhat disappointed. While all the music is there, the director found it necessary to frequently cut away from the concert footage and take us through artsy clips of 50's movies and TV shows. He also cut up the concert feeling with flipping, rotating, flying windows. It's like someone got video editing software for Christmas and decided to take great vide footage of Yes and turn into a high school project. Very disappointing. When I get a concert DVD, I get it to feel like I'm at the concert. You won't get that with this DVD. Updated Post: Go into "Special Features". From there you can choose the "non-artsy" version of the concert. Much more enjoyable!

First of all Alan White is the drummer/percussionist on this live album video. Bill Bruford was the founding drummer, but Alan White has played on the majority of the Yes albums. This is a very good video for any rock fan, particularly a classic rock fan. This band falls into the category with Rush, Pink Floyd and Genesis. I would recommend to anyone.
