Independent Spirit Award-winner Joe Viertel directs this sexually liberated comedy about two successful single women who seek to avoid heartache by taking in a pair of unemployed construction workers for no-strings-attached sex. Donna (Amber Benson) and Christi Ann (Kristen Kerr) have grown weary of dating and relationships. These days all they want is a little satisfaction. Joe (Johann Urb) and Stanny (Stevie Long) are two of handsome but hard-luck construction workers who were just looking for a good time. After engaging in what everyone assumed to be a one-night stand, Donna and Christi Ann invite Joe and Stanny to move into their pool house under the agreement that their relationships remain strictly sexual. Things quickly get complicated, however, when love threatens turn a relationship based solely on sex into something far more serious. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
I think this movie is funny and has a lot of charm. I liked Amber Benson's work in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series so I'm a little biased. I don't think this movie would qualify even as "soft porn" since there isn't a lot of excessively revealing sex scenes or blatant nudity. There is quite a bit of implied BDSM, some very mild bondage and you do see "Donna" (Amber's character) dressed as a school girl with pigtails and all and she does have a blindfold on...but the sex scenes are very brief and more implied than actual visual footage. However, you will hear the "F" word a LOT and you do see "Donna" smoking a joint and she does refer to it as "pot" so this movie is definitely for mature audiences.
this is an indie movie about love, relationships and intimacy. men and women around the world really respond to it's universal theme as to how we often confuse sex with love. NO, this is not some silly sex-romp. only rent this movie if you enjoy smart, insightful character pieces like 'sex and the city' or 'annie hall'.
The acting is fine for a soft sex (my wife would still call it porn) and the plot was good. So if you would like some stimulating entertainment for two, this movie isn't a bad choice.
A 3 star rating would be just fine
