Looking for Lon Chaney Jr's classic 1939 The Wolfman, I received this one instead. From the beginning credits, it looked like vintage Hammer Horror films. The cast are comprised of what seems to be community theater actors, complete with an unassuming lead who rushed all his lines and was in serious need of a back shave. He was already the wolfman, he just needed to add the fangs to complete the look. The sets were obvious sound stages, or maybe even stages in a theater, and the special affects hadn't gotten any better than the 1939 version - though I am willing to bet that the 1939 was better than this one thirty years after the fact. I couldn't bear to watch it to the end, so who knows. Maybe the lead became magically charismatic. Maybe the romantic female lead lost the huge shellac of a wig she was wearing and strapped on a pair of gogo boots. I will never know. This seems like prime material for a MST3K version!

I was disappointed with how boring it was. Take my advice and go after the other remake
