While the beginning of this story is as described here, this movie comes much later. So this is not the place to begin watching -- watch the television series first or you may be lost with this movie. No effort is made to explain the back story here, and there are some scenes that just won't make proper sense without knowing more about the characters. Other than that, I very much recommend this.Urusei Yatsura is one of Rumiko Takahashi's best creations, paving the way for her next masterpiece: Ranma 1/2. Sadly, her later work, notably Inu Yasha, has lost the silly charm these two series possessed. On a side note, the English voice acting for this DVD release is quite tolerable.

This movie occurs AFTER the events described above. It is funny and the characters are entertaining.

"Only You" pre-dates other classic series' such as Ranma 1/2 & Tenchi, both of which (amoung many others) seem to be heavily influenced by this series. This is the first movie of the series and a must-watch for fans of classic old-school Japanimations! Lum is one of the most recognized characters in Japanimation afterall...so watch this movie. There's some good special features with character profiles & voice-actor behind the scenes. www.myspace.com/garrisonandrewkane
