This 5 disc set is for dedicated Dickens fans who simply must know every detail of his life. Each disc contains 3 or 4 50 minute episodes covering his life as a young boy through marriage and old age. Had the story been condensed to 2 discs it might have been bearable, but after finishing the 3rd disc (10 episodes), I'm not sure I can watch any more. It is terribly overacted, especially the parts of his parents and Charles as a 20ish man. If this doesn't scare you off, you'll be rewarded with a real feel for Victorian society and a solid knowledge of how this genius and his family lived. Good luck.
