Bad Santa co-screenwriters Glenn Ficara and John Requa re-team for this fact-based black comedy starring Jim Carrey as a Texas police officer-turned-con man who makes the leap to white-collar criminal after being sent to prison and falling in love with his sensitive cellmate. Steve Russell (Carrey) is a small-town cop. Bored with his bland lifestyle, Russell turns to fraud as a means of shaking things up. Before long, Russell's criminal antics have landed him behind bars, where he encounters the charismatic Phillip Morris (Ewan McGregor). Smitten, Russell devotes his entire life to being with Morris regardless of the consequences -- which could well include a life sentence. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Just watched this film, and it has to be one of my favorite performances from Jim Carrey. This is a VERY dark comedy, and I'm sure a lot of people will be put off by the extreme subject matter. Ewan McGregor played the part of Phillip Morris perfectly, The dudes emotion in the film will make anyone shed a tear. This is a must see once it comes out in theaters.
As long as you go into this movie knowing what it is about, you would think you wouldn't be shocked. However, a few scenes should have been rated X. This was like a gay version of "Catch me if you can". It was neat to see all the ways he conned people from the courts to fortune 500 companies, all in the name of love. Must see at least once.
A con man who is gay goes to prison and falls in love with another inmate. He is a slippery character, managing to escape from prison many times, all for the sake of the man that he loves. This is a very clever and funny film that will keep the viewer entertained throughout. It is also unpredictable, and will have you guessing what will happen next.
