Band of Brothers producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg re-team to produce this ten-hour World War II miniseries based on the books With the Old Breed by Eugene Sledge and Helmet for My Pillow by Robert Leckie. Additional interviews conducted by the filmmakers in collaboration with Hugh Ambrose (son of late Band of Brothers author Stephen E. Ambrose) detail the arduous odysseys of U.S. Marines Sledge, Leckie, and John Basilone from their first skirmishes in Guadalcanal to their eventual return to American soil following V-J Day. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
Compelling stories of the war in the Pacific. Better production than "Band of Brothers" and multiple lead characters keeps it more interesting over the series. Combat scenes are very realistic and accurate, but thankfully lack the enhanced gore of Band of Bros. Love stories, personal reflections, and the home front add new dimension to a war story.
Truly, a Must-See.
As a Marine, i am very critical of how we are depicted in the media and in movies. I am proud to say that this series has exceeded my expectations. It is the BEST production of WWII that I have ever seen. God bless the producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. God bless America. And, may God continue to bless the United States Marines Coprs!!!
I am a huge war movie guy, and there is Nothing better than the pacific out there, I really like Band of brothers, but Tom and Steve really out did themselves this time. Guys, and gals, The Pacific is amazing. It motivates you so much to appreciate the men and women who serve. These guys back in the day have gone threw some rough times. I would give this 100 stars!!
All scenes are awesome, especially those of Guadalcanal... !
