Christopher Nolan steps back into the director's chair for this sequel to Batman Begins, which finds the titular superhero coming face to face with his greatest nemesis -- the dreaded Joker. Christian Bale returns to the role of Batman, Maggie Gyllenhaal takes over the role of Rachel Dawes (played by Katie Holmes in Batman Begins), and Brokeback Mountain star Heath Ledger dons the ghoulishly gleeful Joker makeup previously worn by Jack Nicholson and Cesar Romero. Just as it begins to appear as if Batman, Lt. James Gordon (Gary Oldman), and District Attorney Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) are making headway in their tireless battle against the criminal element, a maniacal, wisecracking fiend plunges the streets of Gotham City into complete chaos. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Possibly the perfect Batman film. Probably the greatest Batman movie ever made and possibly the greatest super hero movie ever made. Closer to the modern comics, very dark. If your looking for the campy silly Adam west Batman or the nipple suit Joel Schumacher Batman then this isn't it. Every actor is perfectly cast and play the roles perfectly. The Music, cinematography, direction, writing, and pacing are all perfect.

Best movie of the decade, hands down! Christopher Nolan finally redeemed the dark vigilante who as we all can recall was put to shame back in the 90's. Hats off to everyone in the cast and also the director for bringing to life ( in the most realistic manner) a man whose principles never become corrupt and serves as a true icon of Justice.

Nolan out did himself this time. Arguably the greatest Batman movie of all time. The Joker was one of the greatest acting moments to grace the screen and the story-line was beyond anything we could have imagined. Top five for me, hands down.
