X-Files creator Chris Carter compiled this thematic DVD collection of episodes from the show's third through fifth seasons, all of which deal with a strain of alien life that uses humans as a host creature. The material on X-Files Mythology 2: Black Oil has been transferred to disc in the full-frame aspect ratio of 1.33:1, and the audio has been mastered in Dolby Digital Surround. The original soundtrack is in English, with alternate dubbed tracks in French and Spanish included, as well as optional subtitles in English and Spanish. The episodes "Talitha Cumi," "Max," and "Memento Mori" include bonus director's commentaries, and the set also features a timeline tracking the mythology of these episodes, as well as a documentary on the "Black Oil" cycle from Chris Carter. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
