As the Man of Steel prepares to reveal himself to the world and declare his longstanding love for "Daily Planet" reporter Lois Lane, an old nemesis teams with a foe of unlimited power to wreak havoc over Metropolis in this animated adventure that pits Superman against a villain the likes of which the world has never seen. A powerful computer with a special strain of kryptonite infused to his body and a hunger for world domination, Brainiac forges an unholy alliance with the dreaded Lex Luthor that aims to bring the world's most famous superhero to his knees. When a force beam originally intended to take out Superman instead blasts Lane, the race is on for the desperate hero to enter the dreaded Phantom Zone and find the cure that will restore her health. The nefarious partnership between Luthor and Brainiac takes a turn for the worse, however, when, believing The Man of Steel to have buckled under the pressure of his powerful blast, Brainiac betrays his one-time partner to strike terror into the very heart of Metropolis. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

As a fan of the animated series, I was very dissapointed in this lackluster release. I think the biggest letdown was Powers Boothe's performence as Lex Luther (absolutely horrible!). Also, despite the look of the animation, Bruce Timm wasn't involved in the production at all. Very dissapointing.

Awful on every level. The voices are wrong. Lex acts like a 60's Batman villain. Terrible dialogue. Unwatchable.

This movie premiered on Cartoon Network over the weekend, and I am glad I had the chance to watch it for free. In short the movie is copied in its style and character design as the original Superman animated series & Justice League. The voice acting for 75% of the characters are the same and that is about the extend of the similarities. The story fits in neither JL or Superman series, Lex Luthor is made into a sniviling campy fool, Mercy is a Harley Quinn wannabe, and Braniac is laughable. While watching this, I could not help but be reminded of the outline Kevin Smith pitched to Warner Bros. for a live action Superman movie (10 yrs ago before the superman series debuted) but as it was just an outline, it appeared that whoever the hack was that filled in the blanks was amatuer or all together new to the writing world. My advice: wait until it shows again on Cartoon Network, and don't buy into the Superman hysteria they are counting on to sell this piece of garbage.
