Deep Purple: Live in California '74 ()
Member Rating:
Witness rock and roll history in the making as Deep Purple takes the stage of the California Jam Festival at Ontario Speedway to offer eight classic hits. This is the legendary performance in which guitarist Richie Blackmore wreaked havoc on the stage as the set drew to a close, a move that nearly resulted in Deep Purple being banned from performing in America ever again. Songs include "Arrival at Airport", "Burn", "Might Just Take Your Life", "Lay Down, Stay Down", "Mistreated", "Smoke on the Water", "You Fool No One", and "Space Truckin'". ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Seeing David Coverdale singing for the first time in the USA! Seeing Glenn Hughes playing bass and singing in Deep Purple! Seeing Ritchie Blackmore going ballistic on the stage equipment! Seeing John Lord and Ian Paice looking trim and energetic! Worth every minute despite the poor audio and video quality. Weird that some of the extras had better video - seems like they put more time into cleaning those up. Classic 70's feel.

I had to turn off the DVD and turn it back in. I'm not sure what they did when they digitized this video but they certainly did not try to clean up or enhance the audio. It was a big disappointment as I love Deep Purple.
