The best thing about this movie is Sean Penn. He's amazing in the role. I found Jude Law's performance bland, and I wish I saw more of Kate Winslet and Anthony Hopkins. (A sidenote - Interesting that all the main characters depicting southern Louisiana aristocracy are played by Brits). I found the story choppy, and difficult to follow at times. The ending was interesting. But watching Sean Penn disappear into the character is riveting.

I thought this movie would be good after seeing previews & cast. However, it turned out to be boring, and really tough to follow.

I loved this movie and the replication of those times was great. The words were a little hard to understand (at the movie theater), however it's well worth seeing. It's about what can happen to someone in potitics that starts out honest. Great actors and great performances by all.
