The late Stevie Ray Vaughan, who led and championed the 1980s American blues resurgence, drew from a myriad of musical influences, from the soul of Muddy Waters to the acid rock of Jimi Hendrix; he arguably attained even more widespread popularity in posthumous years (Vaughan died in a helicopter crash at 35 in 1990) than during his brief lifetime.
