Superb acting, great story... THE MACHINIST is a well crafted film that gives clues as well as twists, making the viewer think a bit to solve the mystery. It's not black and white, and it's definitely not predictable. It's not Hollywood, it's rather an indie gem. Recommended!

This is definitely something different. Christian Bale really got into this role and lost so much weight it was scary. The main reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it unfortunately dragged on a bit in several spots. The acting was excellent if only it didn't drag on.

The Machinist is truly a very innovative, psychological thriller. I have to admit that I truly liked this movie for its own metaphorical interpretation of the theme presented of "there is a price we individually as human beings must pay for the crimes or sins we have committed in our lives through our own personal experiences." I have to admit that Christian Bale does a superb job in the role that he plays as Trevor Reznik (the factory operator). What else can I say!! I was actually quite impressed by his acting in this movie. He took this role to a whole, other level in his acting career. This movie is truly ingenious. Even though this is a very good movie, I had to rate it 4 stars because it isn't really one of my favorite genres in movies. Despite of this, I would truly recommend for others to watch this movie who are AGE-APPROPRIATE (18 YEARS OLD AND OVER).
