This two disc set contains the entire live performance of the complete opera. I'd be hard pressed to better this review from the Amazon site: "Borodin's Prince Igor and the Kirov's production have much to offer: a lush, sensual music, unlike any other opera's. Borodin's music is remarkable, and Prince Igor contains much of his finest. The soloists and chorus of the Kirov opera have rich, full voices, and they are effective actors, as well. And the Kirov ballet's spectacular production of the Polovitsian Dances is unlikely to be equaled anywhere. The DVD's cinematography is excellent and in widescreen; its sound quality is superb." For a staged production,, there is minimal audience and stage noise intruding in on the performance, but it is not without its faults; I have heard better and worse. I strongly recommend a home theater and high-quality, full-bodied sound system. Sung in Russian, the subtitles are a poor substitute for a libretto, but are complete enough to follow the story.

An authentic, artistic, professional, traditional and exciting production. The faces in the Russian audience at the final curtain say it all.

The new policy at Blockbuster seems to be to send only one disc of a 2-disc set. This has happened the last 3 times for me. In this case, they sent disc 1, but did not make disc 2 available. With Peter Seller's "Nozze di Figaro", they sent disc 2 twice, but never disc 1. When they get this glitch worked out, I would likely give it 5 stars, as this title deserves.
