I highly recommend this film to those who enjoy suspense and those who enjoy intellectually stimulating films. There is no action (best classified as a historical drama) and no sex scenes for the those who are searching for such titillation. This film also does not pander to the "stupid audience" theory. Beautifully filmed and written with a great cast this film was thoroughly enjoyable.

Excellent movie.Settings and costumes are as close to the time period of 1816 as you can get. Suspenseful. All of us know so little of the most imfamous commander of the 19th century...such a mystery and unanswer questions to the last years of his life. If true where is his family in America? If he did father children with Betsy...did they his great/grandchildren survide Hurricane Katrina? in Louisianna? I wonder? Don't we all.

Superb telling of intrigue surrounding the final days of Napolean Bonaparte. Refreshing in that, unlike other movies about the famous despot, there are no chase scenes, overly romantic overtones in a physical way, but a realistic, twisting plot of love and blind loyalty of subject around Napoleon as well as well-thought-out depiction of his genius even in his "final" hours.
