American Ninja (1985)
Member Rating:
In American Ninja, Michael Dudikoff plays American "GI Joe" who, based in the Philippines, gets hip to a crooked arms racket involving none other than the military itself. There's no end to the rib-cracking opportunities Dudikoff encounters as he knee-knocks his way through a host of bad guys, rescues a lady in distress, and ventures to thwart the thieving arms vendors. ~ Rovi

I disagree. Think of the technology and special effects available at that time not like what is out there now. This movie might be cheesy by todays standards but there aren't to many better "ninja" movies than this. It's a classic. I've seen way worse movies with the better special effects than what was able to be used in this movie. And the facial expression that was the role he was playing don't trust anyone. Michael Dudikoff is a great actor and never got a chance to hit it big. Learn your movies and when they were made not by what you like now (Kurt H.). Rent this movie.

This was one of my favorite movies, when I was 12. Now I am 31 and realize just how naive I was in my younger years! This is totally a bad B-movie, from the acting to the terrible special effects. Michael Dudikoff should get an award for having the least facial expression ever in a starring role. The only reason I gave it two stars was a few decent fight scenes. Try not to laugh (like I did) when the villain ninja breaks out his laser!

Anyone who has seen this movie knows it's great. Michael Dudikoff is a great actor and I am a gigantic fan. This movie is at times corny, but really contains an intriguing character, Joe. It mostly takes place on a US military base, and so is quite fun to watch. I love how the "ninja" in this movie happens to be "American" (hence the title!). The storyline is great, as are the characters. It's a shame Dudikoff never hit it HUGE as he deserved, and a further shame the ensuing sequels to this movie are so horrendous. This movie is funny, original, and entertaining. Rent it.
