This cult movie classic, also known as Schizoid, is a psychodrama murder mystery thriller involving LSD, psychoanalysis, lesbianism, and having at least one extremely gory dream sequence which involves eviscerated dogs. The director had to prove in court that the dogs in question were fabricated and not real. Florinda Bolkan stars as the woman with all the clues to murder. Stanley Baker is the unlucky police inspector who has to separate what is fact from fantasy. ~ Clarke Fountain, Rovi
A woman experiences violent, sexual dreams involving her next door neighbor, but begins to panic when that very same neighbor is brutally murdered in likeness to her dream. As with other murder mysteries, this film focuses heavily on the investigation of numerous suspects. Lucio Fulci does an impressive job in keeping the viewer engaged with details surrounding the crime. The script is particularly excellent and the acting is strong. There is some nudity, a little gore, and some very good suspense sequences as well.
The attention to detail in restoring this legendary film will be appreciated by students of the genre. It is somewhere between a yawn and a giggle here in the 21st century.
