One of Brian De Palma's most divisive films, Dressed to Kill is a spine-chilling Alfred Hitchcock update for the late 1970s. Sexually frustrated wife and mother Kate Miller (Angie Dickinson) visits her New York psychiatrist, Dr. Elliott (Michael Caine), to complain about her unfulfilling erotic life. When she then goes to meet her husband at a museum, she meets an anonymous man whom she follows out to a cab. After an afternoon of satisfying sex, Kate discovers that the man has a venereal disease, but that information becomes a moot point when a razor-wielding blonde woman slashes Kate to ribbons in the elevator of the man's building. Blonde prostitute Liz (Nancy Allen), who caught a glimpse of the murderer, becomes both the prime suspect and the killer's next target. With the police less than willing to believe her story, Liz joins forces with Kate's son Peter (Keith Gordon) to get the psychopath themselves. ~ Lucia Bozzola, Rovi

DePalma at the top of his game. The real gem of this movie is Angie Dickinson who gives a stellar performance! I saw this movie when it first came out and have never forgotten the scenes with her in it. She conveys so many emotions without opening her mouth. She glows in a tragic role! Well worth the price of rental!

rent this movie; wish I was old enough to have seen it when it came out in the theatres- scary and De Palma at his best; Michael Caine is great; the way the director does camera movement and there are sneaky things you might have to see more than once

This is a good movie and explores the darker side of a woman coming into her own sexuality. This is the start of the 80's when women were just beginning to turn tables on their unfaithful husbands and boyfriends so infidelity and a bit of kinkiness are explored. The movie is a bit slow to start, but picks up momentum and energy. Good plot twists and Angie Dickinson is just plain gorgeous. This is a good, edgy movie when you are in the mood for a bit of film noir.

A classic. Everybody did an amazing job. You will have to wait to the very end of the movie for the great ending.

I liked the kid (Gordon) in this, and Caine was OK, but Dickinson and Allen were both mediocre. Franz is very familiar as a detective. This is softcore porn that pushed the R rating to its limits in 1980, and Dickinson was showing her age but apparently out for one last hurrah. The final sequence is simply gratuitous. Worthwhile as a period piece, but put the kids to bed.

Maybe I would have liked it better if I had seen it in 1980. It felt "old." Go ahead and rent it to satisfy your curiousity, but don't expect an engrossing experience.

A DePalma shock & skin flick. The shower scene in ch 1 is the most you'll ever see of Angie Dickenson (& her double), same with Nancy Allen in ch 15. Both R & NR versions are included on the DVD, with comparisons & details about the movie rating process. Also, I always like these "making of" specials that are produced years after the movie.
