This TV-movie adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel of the "undead" was adapted by Richard Matheson and photographed by Oswald Morris. As the titular count, Jack Palance is a reluctant victim of an unwelcome fate, rather than a grinning bloodsucker. Nigel Davenport co-stars as Van Helsing, vampire-hunter deluxe, who pursues the count with his bagful of hammers and stakes. Much of the Stoker novel that had been eliminated in earlier versions has been restored by Matheson. Pretty good version, sticks close to the original story, very much like Coppola's version so much so that it seems like Coppola steals some ideas from this movie.

It's a really great version. It's certainly not Bela Lugosi or Christopher Lee, but worth watching if you're a Dracula/vampire fan. Jack Palance is a spooky guy so it's good casting. I've seen it many times in the past & wanted to check it out again.

Was true to original although the acting and props weren't too good. I wouldn't watch it again. I'd say "Skip it". I only gave it the rating I did because it was true to Bram Stoker's writings.

Endless film with Palance as a tormented soul. Video quality leaves much to be desired as does script and performances. Palance is dreadfully miscast. If you want quality Dracula...stick with Lugosi, Christopher Lee, Gary Oldman and Frank Langella versions. Wanted to drive a stake through my own heart after viewing this drivel.
