Sex Mission (1984)

Co-writer and director Juliusz Machulski has come up with a hybrid sex sci fi comedy that defies categorization -- a humorous, male-fantasy that is set after a mythical World War III, in a surviving underground world of women only. Before the terrible onslaught of the final war, two scientists were frozen in a state of suspended animation with the intention of thawing them out in three years. When they are released from their ice-bound sleep, 50 years have passed instead and they find themselves the only two males in a female society that has thus far reproduced only in the test tube. The women cater to the men's every wish, and one of the scientists is definitely a happy camper, while the other firmly believes that a dedication to science negates sexual indulgences, but then, he is also willing to test his theory. When the charming Lamia (Bozena Stryjkowna) is converted from an heroic to a submissive state by virtue of her first kiss, the two men realize they can now adequately defend themselves against the more militant females. Their fate still hangs in the balance because the Council of Women may decide to neuter them after all. As a possible escape hatch, the men discover a way up to the surface of the earth, and they manage the journey with Lamia (now permanently converted) while another woman follows them out, trying to stop their exit. Once they are all on the surface, they experience several wonderful surprises -- and it looks like the future of humanity is assured a second chance. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, Rovi

Not bad if you take it for what it is... The subtitles were even better than the usual mis-translations. If you're expecting high-tech Sci-Fi, don't bother. But if you just want a comedic look at an otherwise common Sci-Fi situation, give it a shot.

Much funnier than I expected. It's kind of a Polish Abbot and Costello with some decent nudity. The political overtones are unmistakeable and a Polish freind of mine adors it. His feeling was that while the translations were okay a lot of the humor comes off better in Polish.

Whe you get the disk, one would think it is in Enlish. No!!!!! They sen you a Polish picture without sub-titles. If I give one star, I am over rating.

Horrible, but not bad enough to be funny.

If you are into really weird and disjointed films, this one may do it for you. THe acting was below average but scripted and directed very well. You will need a multitasking mind and be ready to have that overloaded.

Definitely NOT Aliens or Star Wars. Title plays on the word Submission. Director definitely has a message. Has elements of THX 1138, Demolition Man, and Planet of the Apes, story-wise. Though corny and foreign, the theme of controlled society being cracked by basic tenets is blatantly obvious. Sort of THX 1138 with liberal female hormones. Cute buns too!

Nothing to recommend this film--dated attitudes toward women, poor DVD transfer, dull story. Move on.

It figures the only good review it gets from a Pole. I was at least hoping for some good nudity and didn't even get that.

Unless you know Russian or Polish, move on. Don't let the title draw you in. A waste of good plastic.

Had no idea the movie was in Russian. Not a big fan of subtitles and I only lasted about 15 minutes before falling asleep.
