Young Judy Bower (Carrie Lorraine) is spending the summer with her stupid, abusive father, David (Ian Williams), and nasty stepmother, Rosemary (Carolyn Purdy-Gordon). On a dark and stormy night, their car breaks down on a lonely road in the woods and they are forced to seek shelter. As they walk, Rosemary throws Judy's beloved teddy bear into the woods, and the imaginative child envisions it coming to life as a great fanged beast which slaughters her tormentors. The idea of loyal toys protecting their young owners from the ravages of the adult world is forcefully made, and imbues the rest of the film. They come upon a creepy old house owned by elderly Gabriel Hartwick (Guy Rolfe) and his wife, Hilary (Hilary Mason). Gabriel is a doll-maker and dazzles Judy with his collection of exquisitely detailed creations. Another car breaks down in the storm as well, bearing amiable Ralph Morris and two trampy hitchhikers. What they and the Bowers don't know is that the dolls are alive, and protect the young (Judy) and the young at heart (Ralph) from the evils of adulthood. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

This is one 80's gem that i enjoy watching, whenever i get the chance to. The Make-Up and Visual F/X were passable. The films Dark Atmosphere (i.e The House, The noises, the creepy score)was one of the best qualities of this film. Even though the film runs 78 minutes, it manages to move at a nice pace and never leaves out any inportant details. My advice to anyone interested in renting this film: Snatch it up, sit down in the comfort of your own home, and enjoy one of the most underrated films of the 1980's. Highly Recomended!

We just watched this movie on free movies On Demand and I got to say we was pleasently surprised, must be a 80's classic, the acting was ok, great story, the special effects was good for the late '80's, it's a must see for any horror fan, and I was wandering why they never did a sequel to this one they left it open for one, Stuart Gordon MOH had a good one on his hands.......Enjoy.

Some of the creepiest special effects dominate this horror show. The first indication that something is wrong will be obvious to you once the main characters are inside an old mansion in the middle of nowhere. They walk down a hallway and the strangeness begins. Good entertainment, nice and short too.

An awesome dolls movie with plenty of scary, funny, cute dolls. I saw this movie many times as a preteen in the summer with friends. It's old fashioned goodness of an 80s horror movie brings back memories.

Low budget 80s horror. Not really scary but entertaining. Loved it as a kid. Liked it as an adult. Worth a watch.

This is fun for 80's horror enthusiasts. Nothing great to write home about, but some creepy atmosphere and late night popcorn with the kids could be entertaining.

I don't understand how anyone can rate this movie as being good. This is not a horror movie. It's more like childrens fairytale with some blood thrown in. Also those 2 british girls in the film were so annoying. Very bad acting. If you rent this looking for a scare you sure won't find it in "Dolls".
