A convict agrees to go undercover and gather evidence on a notorious crime lord in order to win an early release from prison in this tough, gritty crime drama. Much of the tension develops from the inner conflict of Jimmy Kilmartin (David Caruso), who feels torn between his desire to win freedom for the sake of his family and his belief in a code of honor that sees ratting on others as an unforgivable sin. His misgivings are compounded by fear when he learns that his target is to be the notorious Little Junior (Nicolas Cage), a violent eccentric with a hair-trigger temper. Luckily for the ex-con, Junior takes a shine to Jimmy, welcoming him into his inner circle. While this pleases the investigators, it means further trouble for Jimmy, who would undoubtedly be killed were his deception ever discovered. ~ Judd Blaise, Rovi

Did they use a body double for Cage he has never been that filled out before in his arms? The actors did wonderful for a B rated script. I am surprised with that kind of repensentation of actors the script sucked since Cage can do anything you put in front of him.

I enjoyed this movie. Nicholas Cage was the best as a multi-dimensional Mafia bad guy. Caruso's character starts out as being the guy who's trying to please everyone and that ends up getting him in jail. Quite a bit of violence - some of it pretty graphic. A mafia - cop drama with some good acting.

A well acted. exciting to watch, police versus the bad guys drama. Caruso, Cage and Jackson are at their best in this movie. It was made in 1995 so all the players, especially Kathryn Erbe look much much younger than they do today. Many of the cast are still active in various TV shows. Some reviewers still think Caruso "sucks" but I can remember him when he was the head Shamrock on Hill Street Blues and he's still on a weekly with CSI Miami. Not bad for someone lots of people think can't act. Lots of rough action and bad language.

Nicolas Cage, can't go wrong there, then throw in Samuel Jackson and you'll have a good movie, Helen Hunt was okay for as long as her part lasted. Action, surprises and a good ending. It's is worth your time to watch.

Caruso is the lamest bad guy I've ever seen. He is so out of his element it is almost funny when he tries to be tough. Decent story that moves along at a good pace. A lot of the things that happen are pretty far fetched but good cast. They should have had somebody else instead of Caruso. He sucks.

I'm amazed that "over the top" Caruso was able to get this kind of cast (look at the names in this film!) to surround him for what has to be one of his first movies. Artura, Hunt, Tucci and Rhames really had bit parts, but it's amazing how young they all look, especially Kathryn Erbe (L&O Criminal Intent) who looks like she's about 19. Caruso was less "over the top" than he is on CSI Miami (by a long shot) but the film was still "Just Average"....

Nicholas Cage is GREAT in this movie! Too bad David Caruso is in it. He can't act his way out of a paper bag. Samuel L. Jackson is pretty good, too. The story was so-so; I rented it just because of Nicholas Cage. And to make fun Caruso.

I did not find this movie worth watching although Nicholas Cage is good in any movie. I like David Caruso on CSI:Miami but not in this movie. I didn't think his acting chops were up to par.

Holy Crap!!! This movie sucked. It moved slow, had no action, and was just plain out horrible. The half star is for the actors.
