If you're into those period-romantic movies this one is very good. I was surprised at the quality of acting, location and the strength of the characters. I am not sure why it was titled "The Black Candle" but a sequel to this would be welcome.

I had never heard of Catherine Cookson untill I got this movie. I enjoyed the Bio. of her on the DVD,and now want to see more of her works.

I ordered this becasue of Nathaniel Parker being in it and I wasn't dissappointed. Although he was the villian in this instead of the hero Inspector Linley- it shows him as a much younger man. It wasn't great literature- but it was an enjoyable evening with a movie...
