I remember watching this movie every Halloween night on ch. 2 (CBS) here in L.A. **SPOILER ALERT!!!** I cried every time they shot him, the scene where he's acting like a scarecrow, shivering and crying. I still remember the sheriff's smirk as he raises his gun and shoots him profusely. But the sheriff and townsfolk get theirs in the end. The image that is forever burned in my memory is when the scarecrow gives the little girl the flower in the end, as he turns to look at her while still wearing the scarecrow mask. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie. I highly recommend this beautifully acted film. Suitable for preteens and above. This is just the epitome of a "scary" movie. Not that played out hockey wearing mask guy. No chainsaws endangering the ozone layer. No 40-year-old actors playing teenage vampires/werewolves. Rent it today!

Why isn't this movie for sale?! This is one I want to buy. Update - I bought it on Amazon, I couldn't wait! I was in my early 20's when this came out, but it was one I always remembered. Larry Drake was brilliant as "Bubba". The cinemetography was excellent for a made for TV movie. I agree with everyone else, this movie is a favorite, because the thrills and chills came by what wasn't seen, rather than what was. Sort of like Hitchcock movies.

Great movie! The plot was great, the acting was very good, and I too wanted to kill that damn postman! Typical story of people reacting before they know all the facts. It was very scary and kept you rooting for revenge.

Early 80's TV movie. More of a supernatural suspense than horror. Still,if you are over 40 and remember the TV movies of the week I recommend this one.

This movie had me crying as a youngster because of the character similar to Lennie from Of Mice and Men and his tragic end. It's a feel good horror movie where the villains are played well and you enjoy watching them suffer. Basically, if you like well done B horror movies, this is for you.

Older movie. Kinda corny (Does the mail man ever take that stupid pith hat off?). Its a good movie for tv, but I wouldn't recommend renting it. It kept my interest and it's kid friendly (no nudity or gore). Most people who like it watched the movie when they were younger...which is fine....

Maybe it was good back in the day for a made for TV movie when the only thing horror on TV was The Munsters and I was 9 years old it would have been good and scary, but now...? No. The synopsis and artwork on the cover make it sound a lot more sinister then it is and the synopsis is also wrong. The townsfolk aren't really the ones that the story is about, it is only four men that hated the retarded guy. And, it really is not the entire townfolk that are terrorized, it is the four men. It seems like the townsfolk could care a less that the four men are being picked off including their friendly postman. Also, I don't believe they say anything about him raping the girl in the movie, the four men actually think he kills the little girl. All in all it is a cheesy CBS horror film that does not hold up to time. With this film I would recommend The Messengers instead of wasting you time on this one.
