Diabolik (John Phillip Law) is the criminal mastermind who has just pulled off a huge heist. He spends most of his free time with his girlfriend, Eva (Marisa Mell), in fond embrace. The police minister (Terry-Thomas) is approached by Valmont (Adolfo Celi), a master criminal who proposes to use his underworld connections to catch Diabolik for the police. This movie is based on a fimette(equivalent to a comic), I didn't know this at the time I rented it. This movie is very stylish, and the music is quite good and appropriate for the film. But Diabolik's motivations aren't explained too much. aside from greed. He also kills, which is sort of normal I guess. At one point the character seemingly sends the country into near fianacial ruin. The movie was also a little long with its ending, which is another fake out(obviously). There was one right before as well. The second just added running time and didn't seem as connected to the rest of the movie. The special features are really great though, there aren't many, but it does give you good insight into certain things you saw but didn't think anything of. I think this movie is for a comic fan that might jhave heard this. People who like that era(it takes place in the 60s) and movies from there. I also think that anyone into james bond might like it as well.

Review 324: awful campy comiccbook from the "sexy spoof" era features a non heroic thief spoiling his Eva from his space age hideout in a mountain where they shower with a translucent circle blocking their waist's.

I had to watch this becasue I am a big Bava fan. But it is not one of his better efforts. I should have paid more attention to other reviews of this movie on the internet. It was somewhat stylish I guess it utilizes that bright color and filming angles associated with the 60s. But the plot line failed to explain what motivated Danger Diabolik, acting was pitiful, and everything played out at a slow and predictable pace. This was so bad it was the last episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000. It is obviously a lousy knock-off of "Our Man Flint".
