Based on a character created by Robert E. Howard, this fast-paced, occasionally humorous sequel to Conan the Barbarian features the hero (Arnold Schwarzenegger) as he is commissioned by the evil queen Taramis (Sarah Douglas) to safely escort a teen princess (Olivia D'Abo) and her powerful bodyguard (Wilt Chamberlain) to a far away castle to retrieve the magic Horn of Dagon. Unknown to Conan, the queen plans to sacrifice the princess when she returns and inherit her kingdom after the bodyguard kills Conan. The queen's plans fail to take into consideration Conan's strength and cunning and the abilities of his sidekicks: the eccentric wizard Akiro (Mako), the wild woman Zula (Grace Jones), and the inept Malak (Tracey Walter). I had this on in the background as I was working out and it was really the first time I've probably seen it in its entirety since I was a kid. Back then, I use to think this movie was a total crapfest, but now, I can appreciate it truly as a stand alone sequel. It definitely is nothing compared to the epic awesomeness that is the first film, but I don't think it was really trying to follow in the previous films footsteps. Gone are the smart thematic elements of the first film and this one was purely a no-brainer kind of film, no analysis of anything, just watch it and take it for what it is. A fun film, but I will say one thing, this game reminds me of an RPG/video game. Conan starts pretty much alone, earns companions who want to "party up" with him for whatever reasons (the first one did not go as formulaic as this), and complete a linear quest. The quest is so linear, that everything is predictable.

Nowhere near as good as the orignal. They lost the blood and put in cheesy monsters. Chamberlain was terrible in it. Remember "Red Sonia"? This is worse, a real let down.

Although I thought that the original conan epic was a much better film than this one, destroyer is still a very entertaining movie, with quite a bit more humor interlaced in the story.
