Agnes of God is an "opened up" adaptation of the minimalist stage play by John Pielmeier. Meg Tilly plays a young nun who secretly gives birth to a baby; the child's body is later found strangled to death. Court-appointed psychiatrist Jane Fonda is sent to the convent to investigate, a task made difficult by the weathervane behavior of mother superior Anne Bancroft. To draw out Tilly, who remembers nothing of the birth, Fonda suggests that hypnosis is called for. Playwright Pielmeier poses many questions--is Tilly a pure-and-simple murderess, or was there something "divine" in her act?--but offers frustratingly few answers. I caught this movie on TV a few years back and was immediately drawn in. Its suspenseful, creepy, dark and a pretty good flick! It reminds me of the black & white horror movies that local TV used to play on Sunday afternoons...worth a watch!

I"ve seen this movie two or three times, mainly because of the superlative acting by Meg Tilly. The story presents questions, but offers few answers, so it's pretty unsatisfying in that respect. But if you watch movies for fine performances, this is one you should not miss.

A 5 star movie--so gripping--wonderful acting with classic actors Anne Bancroft, Jane Fonda, and newer superb actor Meg Tilly. Reverent and a bit medieval, gothic ,and beautiful. They made one little "oops"--there is a scene where Agnes and Dr. Livingston are climbing stairs to the bell tower. There is a reference to an elder nun who had died (months ago--the night of Agnes' conception). Agnes said "She climbed up here "last Wednesday, and died the next day ." The writer did a definite OOPS and should have proofread that--the elder nun that Agnes was referring to in recollection died some 10 months ago (day of Agnes" conception)--not "last Wedensday"). I saw the flick a few times before I spotted that error. However, it really amazes me that nobody in the making of the film caught onto that, not even the actors, apparently--still a 5 star flick with a BEAUTIFUL soundtrack--especially at the end of the movie.

A good old movie I had been really wanting to see again, to see if I indeed did like it as much as I originally thought I did. It was very good and suspenseful, but does leave you hanging for answers at the end. I guess you have to decide for yourself what really happened. Kinda like that thought!

The DVD is broke when i took it out of the holder i saw it was broke if you can send me another one of the same movie i will be sending back tomorrow in the mail.I have seen the movie before and it is one of my fav movie.And i wanted to see it again just sorry it was broke when i got it.And i Thank you .
