Africa, Blood and Guts (1970)
Member Rating:
Africa, Blood and Guts is an edited-down version of the 1966 documentary Africa, Addio, a follow up to the directors' Mondo Cane. Whereas the original 138-minute version of Addio sought to criticize practices and customs in 1960s Africa and demonstrated a fair amount of substance (drawing extreme controversy for its political and social observations about Africa), this reduced version exists only for the sake of exploitation - exclusively emphasizing homicides, genocides, mutilations, the butchering of animals and all manner of other grotesquerie.

This was an overall boring movie that looks as though it was directly transferred from reel to reel. Some interesting poaching techniques and a few deaths but nothing horrifyingly graphic or worse than your average slasher film. Overhyped.

It just broke my heart and made my stomach turn to see all the innocent wildlife being tortured and killed. Seeing it happen to humans, not so much.

It is not a big budget film by any means - anytime I see or read something I've not seen or read before I find it informative = I found this picture somewhat entertaining, although outdated, it still has information that gives it a star worth viewing.
