In this romantic spy thriller, a nightclub performer plys her trade in her husband's Trinidad bar. He is murdered by a notorious spy. Soon afterward, the police ask the widow to try to get close to the killer and gather information. Her work is nearly thwarted when her bumbling brother-in-law appears, looking to bring the killer to justice himself. This film marked the return of bombshell Rita Hayworth who had retired from movies during her marriage to Prince Aly Khan. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

It's cool to see Ford and Hayworth in tropical climes getting into adventures again fighting off shady forces. I love the juxtaposition of Rita's dance numbers and the ballsy Glenn Ford beatdowns. I love the magical Uncle Remus-like maid character who has to tell the whiteys what to do. The guy who plays Max Fabian is the biggest jackass - it's hilarious how his face doesn't change even when he's riddled with bullets!

I am a real Rita Hayworth fan. This was some early work of hers. I guess she had to start somewhere. The performances were good, the acting was great, but the script was mediocre. I've seen better

I liked it. For a film noir, you can't go wrong. If they remade it today it would probably win an academy award. Rita Hayworth was considered the ultimate femme-fatale in her day; certainly she's far more sexy and talented than say, Angelina (I need to go to acting school) Jolie. There's also a good chemistry between her and the great Glen Ford who aways does everything well. The story wasn't as strong as "Gilda" nor was it as sexy, but it was entertaining and intriquing nonetheless.

An entertaining way to spend an evening. Since I enjoyed Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford in "Gilda," I welcomed the chance to see them in yet another mysterious film noir. Although bizarre, the story line is better here than it was in "Gilda." No doubt about it: Rita was one of the most vibrant and photogenic actresses of all time.

Hardly a "bumbling" hero, Glenn Ford was cast as the tough, all American who could beat up any knife or gun-wielding foreigner with just his fists. Rita and her absurd dancing in this movie is what makes it a semi entertaining period piece.

You really have to put yourself into an early Cold War mindset to even begin to understand why any character does anything. So, we have rocket scientists leaving their blueprints lying around a Caribbean guest house for high-heeled sexpots to read. I understand why the Ford character falls for Hayworth - she's a bombshell. Not at all clear why Hayworth falls for Ford. Overall, I kind of liked Hayworth, and she's worth the 98 minutes, but the script is formula.
